Reviewed: Cover FX Custom Cover Drops

Moisturizer and tinted moisturizer are two very different things, in my opinion. Moisturizer is a skincare step; tinted moisturizer is a makeup step. Which basically means the product that’s supposed to save me a step doesn’t. Generally I’m fine with keeping my skincare and makeup separate, but when Cover FX’s Custom Cover Drops ($44) landed on my desk, I was instantly intrigued—first, by the consistency. The liquid is virtually weightless, but you see and feel how concentrated the pigments are. (I’m not doing a very good job at describing it, but trust me—it’s like nothing you’ve tried before.) The coverage, as you can imagine, is completely customisable. Some days I add just a drop or two, to give my skin a little boost. Other days I’ll add five to create a real tinted moisturizer. The product claims it can reach the full-coverage level of foundation; I haven’t quite gotten there yet (it must take more than six drops), but I don’t doubt it. Also worth noting, there are 24 shades to choose from, and they’re categorized by neutral, pink, and golden undertones. My one qualm is that the dropper is kind of messy. But as long as you’re careful with that, I highly recommend Custom Cover Drops. Oh, and don’t forget to shake well first (I did once, and it didn’t turn out well).
