Reviewed: A Mix-It-Yourself Face Scrub for Glowing Skin

Lindsey Metrus

Some exfoliators are a bit too abrasive, while some just aren't abrasive enough. It's tough to find just the right scrub that will leave your skin feeling polished and fresh without taking a toll on your complexion. Enter: Cosmedix Purity Detox Scrub ($48), a dry blend of exfoliants that you either mix in with your own cleanser or apply straight with water. You choose the level of exfoliation as well as the application agent. It sounds pretty brilliant, but while I consider myself to be an optimist, I had my reservations about whether this dry mix would actually work or not. (Spoiler alert: I love it.)

My favourite part about the mix is that it's filled with yummy ingredients like poppy, jojoba, and date seeds. With only a handful of ingredients total, I felt safe applying it to my skin. But the absolute best part is that the mix also includes salicylic acid to help unclog your pores. Couple that with the gentle yet thorough scrubbing power of the seeds and you've got a seriously amazing detoxing exfoliator. I personally prefer to mix it with my own face wash (L'Oreal Go 360 Clean Facial Cleanser, $5) because I'm one of those people who needs a lather to feel clean, but it definitely left my skin feeling so incredibly smooth afterward. I recommend it a million times over!
