Smoothies are such an easy way to get a ton of nutrients all at once. Let's face it—kale on its own isn't exactly the most delicious food (we'd rather have a slice of cake, please), but blend it up in a smoothie with some berries and a little almond butter, and it's fully tolerable. Not to mention the fact that you can throw in a bunch of different powders and supplemental nutrients that may otherwise be tough to get into your system individually (at the advice of your doc, of course).
While searching for smoothie inspo on food blogs, Pinterest, etc., we couldn't help but notice how many celebs have shared their own tried-and-true nutritional beverages with the masses. These recipes include good-for-you ingredients that help improve the look of your skin and hair, and help aid in digestion and weight management, among many other body benefits. A lot of the ingredients are also things we might not have thought to put in smoothies ourselves. So to upgrade your own daily smoothie, check out the celeb-approved add-ins below.
Though there's been some controversy surrounding Gwyneth's "pricey" morning smoothie, we actually blended the ingredients together with Your Goopness and can vouch for its tastiness and ability to jump-start your day. Her secret ingredients are mostly hard to pronounce but are easy to digest. Some ingredients include he shou wu, ashwagandha, and cordyceps (they're a mouthful, huh?). Check out the full recipe!
Considering the fact that Jennifer Aniston seems to reverse-age, we're taking her smoothie recipe as gospel. And unsurprisingly, she packs her morning drink with tonnes of anti-aging, skin-revitalising ingredients like a collagen peptide, maca powder, and cocoa powder. "I've been seeing a difference! My nails are stronger and there’s a healthier … how do you explain it? A glow. It’s sort of that working from the inside-out thing," she said of the smoothie.
We fully expected new Manuka Doctor spokeswoman Kourtney Kardashian to include Manuka honey in her daily smoothie recipe. The organic enthusiast also makes her own almond milk but advises on her website that "you can also buy it" (which we'll be doing, thanks). Olivia Culpo told us that when she's been traveling or feeling under the weather, she whips up this vitamin C–packed smoothie. For an extra dose of protein and fiber, she also tosses in some chia seeds.
