Cara Santana Gets a MAJOR Fall Haircut—See the Photos!
We’re suckers for a good makeover, perhaps none so much as the requisite fall haircut. There’s something about the seasonal change from balmy to brisk that makes us itch for change, swapping our beauty security blankets for something new, edgy, and daring. Thus, we were excited to find out actress, Cara Disclothed blogger, and The Glam App founder Cara Santana felt the same—and wanted us to come along and document the process. With her bestie, app co-founder, and shear master Joey Maalouf at the helm of the new cut, Santana was ready trade her long, sleek strands for something completely new—something with bangs. The end result? You’ll have to scroll through to find out.

Santana wanted to cut her strands before her 30th birthday and demonstrated the ultimate act of trust: letting Maalouf do whatever he wanted. “I trust Joey implicitly and feel like he knows who I am and my essence, so I let him design it for me,” she tells us.
For inspiration, Maalouf said he was going for a cut that was “edgy” and “disconnected.” “I told Cara when we were planning the haircut that I wanted it to be really chic, like edgy drummer chic,” he says. “Cara has that very carefree cool-chick vibe who does whatever the F she wants.”
The first step? Snipping off the length. Maalouf gathered Santana’s strands into a low pony then snipped off 12 inches of hair in one go. (For the record, Santana remained calm, cheery, and composed through all of this—major props, as we probably would have been on the hyperventilating end of the spectrum).
After he finished cutting, Maalouf went in with a straightener and added bends to create more texture. The final look? A shaggy midlength bob with long bangs and lots of texture. “I feel refreshed,” Santana says, after the big reveal. “I feel like I let go of the last 10 years, and I’m ready to enter my 30s. I feel like my outside matches my inside now!”
As for Maalouf, he says he would recommend Sachajuan’s Ocean Mist ($31), Supremo Magic Move ($21) in Hard, and, of course, Oribe’s much-loved Dry Texturizing Spray ($42) to keep the cut in all of its textured, Joan Jett–inspired glory. When we asked him for the one piece of advice he’d give to anyone considering a big chop, he was quick to respond: “Just do it! It always grows back.” Truth.
