Reviewed: Boscia Charcoal Deep-Pore Cleansing Stick Treatment

Deven Hopp

As beauty editors, we get bombarded with a ton of new products every day (we know—tough life). Reviewed is a series where we report on some of the best products we’ve tried. Whether it’s a drugstore lipstick that lasted all day or a hand cream that saved us this winter, you’ll find all of our favourites in this column. Enjoy

Like most pore-obsessed people, I love charcoal. Which is why I’ve been a big fan of Boscia’s Detoxifying Black Cleanser ($28) and Konjac Sponge With Bamboo Charcoal ($15) for a while now. So naturally I gravitated toward the brand’s Charcoal Deep-Pore Cleansing Stick Treatment ($28) as well, even though I wasn’t sure exactly what a “cleansing stick treatment” would entail. Somewhat disappointedly, I can now tell you a “cleansing stick treatment” is just cleanser in stick form—not unlike your bar cleansers, but more convenient and easier to use. The application is fun. You massage the stick over wet skin, and a creamy lather forms. From there, the process is no different than your typical face wash routine. The cleanser feels nice on the skin and like it’s actually cleaning to my standards. But it is a cleanser—meaning it’s only in contact with your skin for about a minute—so don’t expect dramatic pore-clearing results. The product may not have lived up to my expectations, but I’m keeping it around. It’s the obvious choice for travel, and like I said, I do love charcoal.

Have you tried this cleansing stick? What are your favourite charcoal products?
